The Fastest Way Back to Yourself? Play. (aka Humans Love Fun)

Humans don’t just survive on food, water, and sleep.
We survive on moments that make us feel alive.

A child doesn’t need to be taught how to play. Laughter arrives before language. Curiosity appears before responsibility. Fun is not something we learn. It’s something we slowly forget.

Somewhere along the way, many of us begin treating joy as a reward.
“I’ll have fun when the work is done.”
“I’ll relax after I reach my goal.”
“I’ll enjoy life once everything is under control.”

      The finish line keeps moving.
The nervous system doesn’t only heal through silence and rest.
It also heals through play. Dancing badly in your kitchen. Laughing until your stomach hurts.
Trying something new without worrying if you’re good at it. Singing in the car. Splashing in the ocean. Chasing your dog. Building sandcastles with your kids… or by yourself.

Fun isn’t a distraction from life.
It’s one of the ways life reminds you that you’re here.

A regulated nervous system doesn’t create a serious person.
It creates someone who has enough safety inside to be spontaneous, creative, and fully present.

If your healing journey has become another full-time job…
Maybe today your next step isn’t deeper. Maybe it’s lighter.
Go do something that makes your inner child grin.
Your nervous system will probably thank you for it. 💛
