Being human in the age of artificial everything in 12 steps

We live in a world where AI can write our poems, plan our holidays, answer our questions, and even pretend to understand our feelings.
Meanwhile, some of us need three business days to recover from an unexpected phone call.

      Technology is wonderful.
But let’s make sure we’re not becoming software updates with legs.

Here are 12 ways to stay gloriously HUMAN in the age of AI.

📚 1. Read something longer than a social media caption.
Remember books? Those things with pages that don’t interrupt you with notifications or ask you to accept cookies.

      🎨 2. Make something badly.
Paint a terrible picture. Bake a questionable cake. Create a crooked clay pot. Not everything needs to be monetized, optimized, or posted for public approval. Sometimes a disasterpiece is still a masterpiece for your soul.

📞 3. Call someone instead of texting.
Remember when hearing someone’s voice was normal, not an unexpected event requiring emotional preparation? Take a deep breath. Make the call. You might even survive the small talk.

      🍽️ 4. Eat with people.
Look them in the eyes. Listen to their stories. Laugh together. And perhaps let your food enter your digestive system before photographing it for strangers. Your stomach has been waiting patiently.

🗺️ 5. Get lost without GPS.
Explore somewhere new. Take the scenic route. Discover something you weren’t searching for. Just remember to get lost metaphorically before attempting it geographically.

🌿 6. Allow yourself to be bored.
Your brain doesn’t need 24/7 entertainment. It’s not a Netflix subscription. Silence isn’t an emergency. Not every empty moment needs filling, and not every uncomfortable feeling requires a motivational video and three new coping mechanisms.

      🌻 7. Buy something from a human.
Visit a local market. Support a small business. Have a conversation with someone who isn’t a chatbot. Your algorithm has enough money. Let’s spread some love around the neighborhood.

      ☎️ 8. Remember a phone number.
Give your brain a little exercise. It’s been carrying your emotional baggage for years anyway. Who knows? One day you might even remember why you walked into a room.

🏡 9. Leave your phone at home occasionally.
You are allowed to be unavailable without issuing a press release. The world will probably survive without your immediate response to a message containing nothing but “Hey.”

      ❤️ 10. Fall in love.
With people, ideas, places, music, life. Real connection requires presence, vulnerability, and the courage to be seen without a carefully edited caption.
And unlike your favorite app, healthy relationships don’t come with a customer support department.

🎵 11. Trust your own taste.
You don’t need strangers on the internet to confirm that you like the color blue. Listen to the music that moves you. Enjoy what you enjoy. Develop your own opinions.
Not every thought needs to be borrowed from a podcast, a guru, an influencer, or an AI that sounds suspiciously confident.

🚶 12. Take the long way sometimes.
Life isn’t an Amazon delivery. Not everything needs to arrive tomorrow. Some of the best things happen when you stop rushing towards the destination and start noticing the journey.

      And here’s a bonus reminder:

💃 Do something that has no purpose except being alive.
Dance in the kitchen. Watch the sunset. Laugh until you snort.
You don’t need to turn every experience into personal growth. Sometimes a banana is just a banana, and Tuesday is just Tuesday.

❤️ HERE’S THE REAL PLOT TWIST.
We have more ways to connect than ever, yet many of us feel increasingly disconnected.
We can ask AI to write our love letters, recommend our next adventure, plan our happiness, and explain our feelings. But it still can’t live our lives for us.
It can’t do our healing, love on our behalf, choose courage when fear tells us to hide, or notice the sunset we were too busy scrolling to see.

Use technology to help you live your life. Don’t use it as a substitute for having one.
The goal isn’t to become more productive, more impressive, or more perfectly optimized.
      It’s to become more PRESENT.
Because you can have the smartest phone, the fastest internet, and the most advanced AI in the world… and still miss your entire life while checking whether someone liked your last post. 😂

So put the phone down occasionally. Look at the human sitting across from you.
They may be your soulmate. Or they may just want you to pass the salt.
Either way, it’s called HUMAN CONNECTION. ❤️😂

Stay curious. Stay connected. Stay gloriously, imperfectly HUMAN.
