Relearning the Art of Now Through Our Inner Child
Living in the now is basically life’s cheat code.
The past? A dramatic historian that only remembers your awkward moments.
The future? An overcaffeinated intern making wild predictions with zero receipts.
But the present moment? Calm, available, and holding snacks. When we live in the now:
Anxiety loses WiFi 📵
Overthinking runs out of plot twists
Joy stops being “scheduled for later”
And suddenly… life tastes better. Even the coffee. Especially the coffee ☕Now watch a child for five minutes and you will see present-moment mastery in its purest form.
💥Children do not “visit” the now. They live there rent-free.- They notice everything. The ant crossing the sidewalk. The weird shape of a cloud. The exact crunch of a cookie.
- They taste life like tiny scientists on a sugar-powered research grant.
- They learn directly from the environment instead of from the scary movie playing in their heads.
And emotionally? Zero corporate filters.
- If they are happy, the whole room knows.
- If they are upset, the neighbors probably know too.
- If they are curious, they will ask seventeen questions before you finish your sentence.
No past shame spiral. No future what-if circus.
Because of that, they constantly recalibrate in real time.
They feel, they express, they adjust, they move on. Clean. Fast. Effective.
Meanwhile, many adults are out here emotionally buffering… since 2009. 😅The gift of living in the now is not becoming childish. It is becoming clear again.
When we drop the past and stop auditioning for imaginary futures, something powerful happens:We actually see where we are.
We actually feel what is true.
We actually notice when it is time to pivot.
And from that clarity, realignment becomes almost effortless like a GPS that finally has signal again. So today’s gentle rebellion:
Pause.
Look around like a curious five-year-old.
Taste your food.
Feel your feelings.
Tell the truth (kindly, please, we are grown-ish 😁).Because life is not happening in your five-year plan.
It is happening in this breath, this bite, this beautifully ordinary now. ✨
