Some love is worth fighting for
Over three years ago I boarded a plane to Alaska to see my baby girl… and her baby girl in the fullness of everyday life.
I still remember the moment we gathered together.
My daughter’s smile first—warm, familiar, home.
And then those wide little eyes looking up at me like I was something fascinating and brand new. One tiny hand, one curious stare, and suddenly the miles didn’t matter anymore.Alaska has a way of making things feel simple and sacred at the same time—big sky, crisp air, quiet that settles your nervous system. But the real “medicine” on that trip wasn’t the scenery.
It was sitting close on the couch.
Sharing time and baby giggles.
Watching my daughter mother with tenderness.
Feeling my granddaughter relax into the safety of being held.In the middle of a life that can be heavy—where grief and responsibility and uncertainty sometimes try to harden the heart—this was my reminder:
“There is still so much good in this world.”
It has a face.
It has a laugh.
It reaches for you with sticky little fingers and makes you remember why love is worth everything. This photo is proof of what I know in my bones now:
Some moments are worth the flight.
Some hugs are worth the cost.
Some love is worth fighting for.
