When Love Was the Message (Before Religion and Marketing Edited It)

Christmas and New Year arrive like cosmic editors with red pens and excellent timing.

      Christmas whispers: relax.

Love is not a performance review. Warmth counts. Presence counts. Burnt food still counts. It invites brave softness. Giving without keeping score. Receiving without checking the fine print. Love does not need to hurt to be real.

New Year grabs the mic and asks: who’s writing your story?

The mind wants planners and deadlines. The spirit wants a doorway. This is not about becoming someone new. It’s about not dragging old survival versions of yourself into the next chapter. You’re not late. You’re here. That’s enough.

      Then the plot twist.

      • Religion saw this message and said, “Let’s organize it.”

Suddenly love needed rules, joy needed permission, and guilt got very good at singing.

      • Marketing saw it and said, “Let’s monetize it.”

Presence required purchases. Meaning came in limited editions. Happiness needed good lighting and fast shipping.

And still, the real message survives.

It slips in through laughter that comes out of nowhere.

Hugs that last a second longer. Moments that cost nothing and mean everything.

That’s the spiritual prank of the season.

Love is not scarce. Rest is allowed. You can begin again without reinventing yourself. Connection is not a reward. It’s the point.

      Not a new life.

      A truer one. ✨
