Can we talk?

Apparently, I’m the problem now.
“Release your ego.”
“Kill your ego.”
“Don’t let your ego control you.”
Excuse me?! 😳

I have been helping you navigate this planet since day one.
I help you know what you like.
I help you say NO when something feels wrong.
I help you recognize your boundaries.
I help you make decisions.
And, very importantly, I defend your uniqueness.

Because newsflash: you are not supposed to be everybody else.👀

I’m the part of you that says,
“Actually… I don’t like this.”
“I don’t want to go there.”
“That’s not who I am.”
“Please stop treating me like a doormat.”
You’re welcome. 😌

And yes… sometimes I get a little carried away.

• Someone doesn’t text back? Emergency meeting. Immediately. 🚨😂
• Someone criticizes you? “Interesting. Let’s prepare a 47-slide presentation proving they are wrong.”
• Someone misunderstands you? “Excellent. We shall now replay this conversation until 3:17 AM.”

I may be dramatic.
But I have a job. I protect. I distinguish. I define. I defend.

The problem isn’t that you have an ego.
The problem is when I start believing I own the entire universe. 🌎😂

I am part of US.
But I am NOT the whole of US. (… I don’t particularly enjoy that part of the job description. I usually skip that chapter. 😁)

So please don’t try to destroy me. Get to know me.
Notice when I’m afraid.
Notice when I’m protecting an old identity.
Notice when I’m desperately trying to control the outcome.
And then…
maybe let something deeper than me have a say.

Because I don’t need to disappear. I will NEVER disappear.
I just need to remember that I’m part of the team… not the CEO of existence. 😂

And between us?
I’m actually quite good at my job when you stop making me do everyone else’s.
